Project Description
The National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP), under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MFPI), Government of India through its Karnataka Office has entrusted a Study on “Status of Onion Harvesting, Storage and Processing in the State of Karnataka” to TECSOK.
The scope of the Study covered reviewing the present production of onions and storage and packaging facility available in the State and also to assess the present storage and packaging facility for onions and its effectiveness. Further, the Study envisaged suggesting suitable measures to overcome the shortage of storage and packaging facility for onion and recommending suitable storage structure and packaging method based on the latest technology to enable farmers to get better returns for onions.
